La Rioja, in the north of Spain, is synonymous with wine. It is one our most internationally renowned wine-producing areas. These exquisite wines are the product of centuries of tradition; because wine in La Rioja is not just a drink – it embraces a whole culture, deeply rooted in this land of vineyards and wine cellars. La Rioja produces an average of 250 million liters a year, of which 85 % corresponds to red wine, and the rest to white and rosé. Different types of wines, but all have as a common denominator – their outstanding quality.
The Ribera del Duero wine route runs through inland Spain, and more particularly, through four provinces of Castile-León: Burgos, Segovia, Soria and Valladolid. It covers a length of 115 kilometers, throughout which the Duero River is a constant traveling companion the whole way. Underground wine cellars take visitors back in time to the origins of wine, the tradition of wine-producing families, the combination of avant-garde architecture, the typical gastronomy of Castile, cultural heritage and natural landscapes… all these elements make this journey an unforgettable experience.
A trip through these regions will show you the most of the Spanish wine culture. Discover this world of aromas, colors, nuance and sensations – an experience not to be missed. And La Rioja is the ideal place to set off on this journey into the world of wine.
